Yesterday was not a good day for justice, but it was a
great day for fans of rampant stupidity. I have written about Placer County law
enforcement many times in the past, but today was truly over the top. At least
there was a large media presence to witness the absurdity of it all.

County, Still Murderous After All These Years. Kubbys Find Secret “Death
Warrant” Signed by Disqualified Judge. Key To Canadian Refuge, If Not Justice In
California.
After being locked up since he returned to DEAland, and
having never been seen by a doctor, Steve Kubby was brought in handcuffs and an
orange jailhouse jump suit into the jail court at the end of a long parade of
sad looking young men and middle-aged women.
All of the other prisoners were handcuffed together, but
Steve was by himself, just as he is kept in solitary confinement. He smiled as
he saw that the room was full of his friends and supporters, including Steve
Tuck who was sitting in the front row. (Of course, Tuck had just medicated on
the jailhouse steps, as a dozen or so of the local constabulary glowered
impotently.)
See
Bill McPike, Kubby’s attorney, was with him for about
45 minutes this morning and told the assemble throng of reporters that Steve is
“not doing well”, but still had not been seen by a doctor. He also said that he
(McPike) had talked with the DA, Fennochio, who said he was leaving the case in
the hands of the Assistant DA, Chris Cattran. (Presumably, he wants to be able
preserve “plausible deniability.” It won’t work.)
It would seem that there is at least the possibility of
a “deal” that would give Kubby house arrest while he appeals his conviction, but
that is very uncertain. He might be locked up for about 90 days for the balance
of his probated sentence.
Steve is now being given Marinol, and that seems to help
him some, but it is almost certain that it will not be enough to control his
symptoms, much less retard the progression of his adrenal cancer.
His life
remains in great danger, and right now he is the subject (victim) of a bizarre
medical experiment that should outrage the medical profession. (Quack, quack.)
He is also as much a victim of torture as anyone in
Guantanamo or Abu Ghraib. Of course, if he were an accused terrorist, Amnesty
International would have been there today.
As things stand now, Steve may still face up to three
years for the supposed felony convictions for the possession of minute amounts
of psychedelics, which the police extracted from plant material supposedly found
in a film canister in the Kubbys’ guestroom.
After the hearings, Cattran tried to pretend that this
was just another case, and everything is being handled routinely. However, when
journalist Pat McCartney asked him about why the conversion of Steve’s
conviction from a misdemeanor to a felony had been handled by judges who had
been recused from the case, Cattran refused to answer and stormed away. Not a
cool way to impress visiting media.
Before his hasty exit, I was able to ask him if he had
been contacted by anyone from Immigration Canada, and he actually looked
surprised. He said that he had not heard from them at all. He also acknowledged
that he had told the media that Kubby would be arrested – as a matter of course
– when he was forcibly renditioned to DEAland.

Of course, this more proof that Immigration Canada has
lied through out the Kubby and Tuck refugee hearings. But why?
Do the people of Canada want to face the truth about
what is being done in their names? Certainly the American people should have
been able to see for themselves the surreal scene in that courtroom. Look in the
mirror, America! See what you have become!
And look in the mirror, dear reader. What have you done
for freedom today?
I will be back in Auburn on Friday morning, but in the
meantime, we must continue to demand that Kubby either be released at once or be
given proper medical care, including whole cannabis. California should contact
Attorney General Lockyer and demand an investigation of Placer County’s handling
of the Kubby case from the beginning. If – God forbid – Steve dies, there will
be no escaping an investigation. It would be much better to free Steve and do it
now and not have to add judicial/prosecutorial murder to the list of surreal
injustices in this case.
